Televisions just keep getting bigger, and manufacturers keep obliging with larger and larger units offered each year.  A television that displays artwork when it is “off” is a great way to integrate larger televisions into your primary living spaces.  These types of televisions are a Designer’s best friend!  Integrating a Frame-style TV into your home involves utilizing its unique design features to blend it seamlessly with your personal decor. Here's how you can do it easily:

  • Select the Right Art Mode: The Samsung Frame TV offers an Art Mode that displays artworks when not in use. Choose art pieces that complement your home's interior design and color scheme. You can select from their art store, or upload your favorite family photo, or your niece’s latest masterpiece from art class.  Move over, Vincent Van Gogh…..
  • Customize the Frame: The Frame TV comes with customizable frames that mimic real picture frames. Choose a frame style and color that matches your existing decor, whether it's traditional, modern, or minimalist.  There are many vendors that sell frames specifically to fit these types of televisions.  Be sure to get a couple of samples to try out in your space, as the thickness and finish of the frame can vary greatly in person, from the online imaging.
  • Optimal Placement: Place the Frame TV in a prominent yet non-intrusive location, such as above a console table or on a feature wall. Ensure it's at eye level for comfortable viewing.
  • Incorporate Gallery Wall: Surround the Frame TV with a gallery wall of complementary artwork, family photos, or decorative objects. This creates a cohesive and visually appealing display.  When surrounded by other pieces of art, the television really does almost vanish.

  • Conceal Cables: Hide cables and wires using cable management solutions or by routing them through the wall. This keeps the area around the TV clean and clutter-free.
  • Adjust Ambient Lighting: Install dimmable lighting, or rely more heavily on lamplight to reduce glare and create a cozy atmosphere when the TV is in Art Mode. Soft lighting enhances the appearance of the artwork displayed on the screen.
  • Incorporate Furniture: Position furniture such as sofas or armchairs around your television to create a comfortable viewing area. Ensure that the furniture complements the room and also fosters conversation, when your television is not in use.  There is nothing worse than a room that looks like a shrine to the television, and nothing else.
  • Blend with Surroundings: Choose a Frame TV size that fits proportionally within your space. The TV should complement other elements in the room without overpowering them. A dark wall color, or wall covering will allow the displayed artwork to really contrast and shine. If you want something less visually striking, opt for a lower-contrast paint or wall covering to minimize the visual impact of the new television
  • Personalize Settings: Customize the TV's settings, such as brightness, color temperature, and motion sensor sensitivity, to suit your preferences and enhance the viewing experience.  Lowering the brightness of the art mode can really make the image look more like a painting and less like a television, in disguise.

Let’s deemphasize that Mayflower-sized television and make it an asset, instead of a liability!  It’s easy to seamlessly integrate a Frame-style TV into your home decor, turning it into a functional and stylish piece that enhances your living space, instead of dominating it!
